Christmas Time Of The Year / Revival Animal Supply !
If the world ended tomorrow, what do you think would happen? I can't make any guarantees where each one of us would go, but I am convinced there is one group that would be recognized for doing what God has intended for us to do: our dogs! Dogs know how to share, be kind, respect their elders, forgive and have a gentle attitude, even when their family doesn't deserve it. They find joy in life's small pleasures - they can find happiness in a weekend hunting trip or simply chasing a squirrel up a tree at full speed. My dog has shown me that kindness is free - what a gift this Christmas season.
At Thanksgiving, my 4-year-old grandson fell in the yard and let out a cry that left no doubt he was hurt. All the adults came running, but my dog Casey got there first. She mothered and nuzzled him and by the time his mom got to his side, he was near giggles from the canine affection. When my daughter picked him up, he resumed crying - much to Casey's distaste. Casey bumped her as if to say, "I had this. If you would have left me alone with him, he'd be fine!" When she allowed Casey to get back in his face, the giggles returned. Comforting a child has to be one of a dog's greatest gifts from God!
A few weeks ago I received some unpleasant medical news about a friend. As I sat there trying to absorb the news, Casey placed her head on my leg and just held it there. Her kind, gentle touch was comforting, and when I reached to wipe a tear away, she nuzzled my arm and demanded a response. After a few pats and a tail wag, I felt a calm that things would turn out as they should and I didn't need to worry. With her friendly face and optimistic wag, Casey instinctively knew what I needed.
I thank God for my pets and I know many of you are thankful as well. Dogs give much and ask little in return. They put us on a pedestal, and we strive to live up to their expectations as they selflessly lead by example and show us how it's done. During the Christmas season, you can bet I will be one of the 60% of people who will give Christmas gifts to their pets. It's just one way to show them the adoration is mutual!
Merry Christmas to you and your pets!
